Activity for Week 4 (K-3rd only)

Growfetti

• We suggest week 4 to help spread out the activities, however, you can do this anytime during the program. A fun way to learn the different phases of growing flowers. Multi-color-shaped wildflower seed papers make up your “growfetti.” This “growfetti” can be portioned out to your students. Have them sprinkle or toss on soil which can be a garden box or on the ground that gets some sun.  We’ve even included materials to start creating a Pumpkin Piñata as an optional activity. 
  
  Suggestions or Fun Variations: You can make a pinata or confetti popper. If you make a pinata, you can add seed bombs (worksheets in Gdrive) with your growfetti. Tips:  Be sure to let Admin and Custodians know where you plan to throw the growfetti so they do not clean it up.  You’ll want to till the ground so that it helps ensure a good growing environment.

Optional Pumpkin Shaped Pinata Video

The Optional Pumpkin Piñata*

1. One (1)  Balloon* (for paper mache of the piñata)

2. Two (2) 16oz cups (1 for mixing 1 for holding the balloon)

Other Materials you will need (not included)

• Area/Garden box with Soil, to throw the Growfetti on

• Water to water the seed paper and/or for the paper mache mix

• Decoration materials to decorate your piñata* (construction paper, colored tissue paper, paint, etc.)

• String to hang up the piñata*

• 2 Newspapers* (for paper mache mix)

• 8 oz (1 Cup) Glue* (for the paper mache mix)
